“What does it mean to be a jazzman today?” French jazz artist Olivier Ker Ourio knows how to answer the question in a multitude of ways. A multi-dimensional talent in his own right, Ker Ourio is widely known as one of the word’s leading chromatic jazz harmonica players; when he’s not touring worldwide — as an innovative soloist/sizzling sideman, he’s band leader and jazz composer.
This short feature documentary presents an intimate mosaic of the artist’s life, through interviews shot in and around Paris, along with live performances, rehearsals, and concerts. We also experience a new step in the artist’s evolution, as he composes new work for his acclaimed 2005 release Siroko, with Swiss bassist Heidi Kaenzig and renowned American guitarist Ralph Towner.
